Maggie has won an NSF Fellowship to study amphibian microbiomes!

Maggie has been awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology (PRFB) for her next career step. This summer, she’ll transition to working with Dr. Doug Woodhams at UMass Boston, pursuing a 3-year project titled: “Leveraging metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and gnotobiotic models to facilitate protective microbiomes sourced from natural communities”. She will be applying her passion for studying disease and her microbiome research skillset to an amphibian system, using cutting-edge techniques. The goal of her work is to help pioneer new skin microbiome-based treatments for amphibians suffering from deadly chytrid fungal diseases.
